Check out my first mock of 2021, a little late for sure but worth the wait ;) Going with who I think the teams will draft not know I think they should draft. Also a quick
1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
Obvious choice, please don’t disappoint me Jags.
2. New York Jets - Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
The Sam Darnold experiment is over, the Jets move on with a better QB prospect. Could have easily been Fields but I’m expecting the NFL to be a little gun shy on Ohio State QBs.
3. Miami Dolphins - Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
I get they need a WR here but offensive line is more important for Tua. Also going to be difficult for them to pass on a great OL prospect when Miami won’t be picking here for a good long time.
4. Atlanta Falcons - Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
This pick could go a lot of ways. Could be a trade, could take BPA or could take a QB and look to trade Matt Ryan at some point in the near future. Think they go QB here.
5. Cincinnati Bengals - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
The Bengals have a lot problems on defense so could be a lot of different guys. Going BPA at a position of need with a flexible LB is going to help the team immensity. If Penny is here they jump on him but I doubt he falls this far.
6. Philadelphia Eagles - DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
The Eagles can’t miss on WR if they pick in the top 10 right? Right? Out of the big 3 the most likely (in order) for Phily to take is Smith, Waddle, Chase.
7. Detroit Lions - Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU
Steal. Best WR available and Goff is going to need weapons once Golladay inevitably leaves.
8. Carolina Panthers - Trey Lance, QB, ND State
Panthers found out thier current QB probably isn’t going to be the guy. They look to get a new one at 8 whether it’s Lance or Fields or someone else entirely. Lance makes a lot of sense considering it’s likely whoever is taken here will sit for most of next year while Teddy plays out his contract.
9. Denver Broncos - Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
The Broncos have a well rounded team (outside of QB) so this will be a tough pick but hard to not take a good lineman when it’s a possible need. If I were doing trades I would heavily consider having Denver trade up or out of this spot entirely.
10. Dallas Cowboys - Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
Was considering putting Pitts here to really give this team another playmaker on offense but the defense needs good young help. That’s what they get here.
11. NY Giants - Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
Wouldn’t it be great if the NYG could get another corner? With that D-line sign me up!
12. San Francisco 49ers- Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Williams is retiring right? Even if he doesn’t there are holes on this line that need to be filled. Cosmi is fairly athletic and good enough to work with the 49ers game plan.
13. LA Chargers - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
Perfect fit. Waddle might not fall this far but I’ll say it again this a perfect fit so it must happen /s
14. Minnesota Vikings - Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami
Yan didn’t work out so they have to find another pass rusher (most likely) in the draft.
15. New England Patriots - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
Between Pitts and Jones Bill must realize the obvious choice is a capable QB. Mac is a capable QB that Belichick can mold into his future star QB. Honestly this could be the weirdest draft the Pats have had since in some years. Could finally see them trading up in the first round; wild.
16. Arizona Cardinals - Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
People have Pitts going as high as 5 but anywhere in the 10-20 range seems more likely. Arizona has plenty of holes and they might be taking a CB here if one of them fall but with Pitts there and a great QB already on the roster what’s not to like?
17. Las Vegas Raiders- Christian Darrisaw, OT, VT
The line is old and needs some youth. The defense already has plenty of young guns so no need to add another rookie CB in the first round this year.
18. Miami Dolphins - Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
Dolphins are in the market for a WR and while there is a clear drop off from the top 3 there are plenty goodish WRs to get late in the first. They get one here.
19. Washington Football Team - Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT, USC
The line is getting old and if they don’t bring back Scherff they will def need a good young replacement. Love Vera-Tucker so far in the process so he might shoot up higher in my mocks to come.
20. Chicago Bears - Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
The cap is going to be tough for the Bears especially if they trade for Wetnz. With that each day it feels more and more like they wont resign Robinson and even if they do a WR makes sense for them at 20.
21. Indianapolis Colts- Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan
The interior of the D-line is fine but the outside is getting old and they could use any help, especially young help.
22. Tennessee Titans- Zaven Collins, OLB/EDGE, Tulsa
No Jadeveon Clowney no problem, gimmie a young guy on a rookie deal. Collins would be a great fit for Vrabel and defense.
23. New York Jets - Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
Let’s get our new Darrelle Revis please (plz don’t read too much into that). Honestly could go WR or DE or LB or anything. This pick will be as much of a wild card as you can get in the first round.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers- Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
Hard nose runner in Ben’s last year at QB; every Pittsburg fan is creaming thier pants.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
They needed a safety last year. Maybe the new GM will do what needs to be done.
26. Cleveland Browns - Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, UGA
If Watt comes to Cleveland the pick will likely be a little different but for right now they will need another edge guy to go along with Garrett.
27. Baltimore Ravens - Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State
The line needs an upgrade. Everything else in the offense is set (except maybe WR but Baltimore will have plenty of options in FA). Get more lineman, this team depends on it.
28. New Orleans Saints - Jayson Oweh, EDGE, Penn St
Not sure where NO will need to upgrade since they are so well rounded but they are also probably in cap hell. Think it’s likely they part ways with Trey Hendrickson and will need to fill that need with a rookie.
29. Green Bay Packers - Jeremiah Owusu- Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
There are issues that GB needs to deal with immediately. No more playing for the future this year as much as I love it. Think they add a WR in free agency so with this pick they grab a LB to help address the run defense.
30. Buffalo Bills - Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
Another playmaker for this offense is exactly what the doctor ordered. They could go defense and grab a pass rusher but Etienne is such a good playmaker he’s going to be hard to pass up at this spot; much like CEH was last year for KC.
31. Kansas City Chiefs - Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
While the line was dealing with some issues in the Super Bowl that doesn’t mean they don’t need help there. Almost any O-lineman fits in here imo, Fischer and Schwartz are getting older and most of the other lineman are shaky at best.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
TB has one great young DT; they add another in the draft and let the old guys go (Suh shouldn’t be back). TB could also go edge if they lose out on Barrett but I like Barmore here a lot, he’s more talented than people give him credit.
